Tom Hutchinson, former University of Kentucky wide receiver and a member of the UK Athletics Hall of Fame, died Saturday in Campbellsville, Ky., at the age of 65.

Hutchinson came to UK from New Albany, Ind., and played for the Wildcats from 1960-62 under head coaches Blanton Collier and Charlie Bradshaw. He was named first-team All-Southeastern Conference all three seasons by The Associated Press, joining Steve Meilinger (1951-53) as only the second player in school history to accomplish that feat. He ended his collegiate career with then-school records of 94 pass receptions and 1,483 receiving yards. He remained the all-time leading pass receiver in UK history until 1997.

After his time as a Wildcat, Hutchinson played in five post-season all-star games. He was a first-round pick by Cleveland in the 1963 National Football League draft, playing three years with the Browns (1963-65) and one with the Atlanta Falcons (1966).

Hutchinson?s UK jersey was retired by the school in 1992. He was a member of the inaugural UK Athletics Hall of Fame class in 2005. Hutchinson and his wife, Mary, were residents of Columbia, Ky., at the time of his death. Visitation will be Monday at 5 p.m. CDT and the funeral is Tuesday at 11 a.m. CDT at Grissom Funeral Home in Columbia.
