LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Black squad earned a 8-1 win in game two of the UK Fall World Series to even the series 1-1, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

The Black team took a hold of the contest early and never surrendered after claiming a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second. An Anthony Ottrando single, followed by a Billy Grace single down the left-field line, set up a Marcus Nidiffer base hit, plating two runs. Chris Wade followed Nidiffer and promptly knocked an RBI single through the left side scoring Keenan Wiley, who had also reached on a single.

The Blue team answered in the next half inning, scoring their one and only run after Neiko Johnson reached on a double and advanced to third on a Ryan Wilkes single. Johnson scored after Brian Spear hit into a double play to narrow the Black lead to 3-1.

The Black squad responded to the Blue run, plating two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Billy Grace got the scoring started, walking and advancing to third on a wild pitch. Brock Wright walked and promptly stole second, allowing Grace to score on the ensuing rundown for the Black’s fourth run. Wiley laid down a bunt single, advancing Wright and setting up a Nidiffer sacrifice fly for the 5-1 advantage.

The fifth inning was more of the same for the Black squad as they plated three runs for the final 8-1 margin. Sean Coughlin led off with a walk and was pinch run for by Johnson, who immediately stole second, setting up an Ottrando RBI single. Ottrando advanced to second on a fielding error and scored on a Wright RBI single. Two batters later Grace scored on a throwing error to stretch the score to 8-1.

Black southpaw Chris Rusin earned the win by hurling three innings, allowing one run and five hits. Blue starter Aaron Lovett allowed one run in three innings to take the loss.

The series resumes Monday at 3 p.m. at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
