LEXINGTON ? Junior Ryan Strieby?s two-run home run in the sixth inning lifted the Black to a 7-5 victory over the Blue in game two of the UK Baseball Fall World Series on Thursday.
Strieby broke a 5-5 tie with his shot and helped the Black tie the series at one game a piece. His homer also snuffed out a rally by the Blue that had seen them come back from 3-0 and 5-3 deficits.
Junior reliever Zach Dials got the victory after hurling 3 1/3 innings and allowing a pair of runs.
Junior John Shelby, who led the team with 10 home runs a year ago, got the Black on the board early with his two-run shot over the wall in left. Shelby finished 2-for-4 after adding a double later in the game.
The Black padded their lead with a run in the third only to see the blue post three runs on starter Matt Robinson in the fourth to tie the game.
Matt McKinney answered with a two-run double in the top of the fifth to make it 5-3 before the Blue tied it again with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame. Sophomore Ryan Wilkes and senior Michael Bertram led the Blue, each going 2-for-4.
Game three takes place on Friday afternoon at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
