On the field, Kentucky (26-22, 6-17 SEC) is attempting to win its third straight series over the Commodores in Lexington. The Wildcats have won two straight overall and three of their last four, including a victory over No. 8 LSU in the past week.

Vanderbilt (30-17, 11-13), remains in the thick of the race for the final spots in the SEC Tournament. The Commodores are tied with Arkansas and Auburn for the eighth and final position in the draw.

Friday night, Kentucky will send right-hander Kalen Gibson (4-2, 5.15 ERA) to the mound to face right-hander Jensen Lewis (7-2, 2.53). Lefty Aaron Tennyson (6-1, 4.02), who is 5-0 in conference action, takes the hill for the Wildcats Saturday with fellow southpaw Andrew Albers (4-5, 4.50) getting the nod Sunday.

The Commodores counter with a pair of lefties in the final two games of the series. Junior Ryan Mullins (5-1, 3.49) will start Saturday with David Price (2-4, 2.55) going Sunday.

The series will feature the SEC?s top pitching staff in Vanderbilt against the league?s fourth-most prolific offense in Kentucky. The Commodores earned-run average stands at 3.39 while the Wildcats hit a robust .301 while crossing the plate better than seven times a contest.

Last year, the Kentucky dropped three games in Nashville to Vanderbilt, which leads the all-time series 131-119.
