The Victory Club, Kentucky women?s basketball?s booster club, held its annual post-season ?Hoopla? event Wednesday, April 13 in the Patterson Office Tower on the UK campus.
The event, held each April, provides an informal mixing of players, parents, coaches, managers, support staff and athletics personnel with Victory Club members to celebrate the season?s achievements.
This year?s event was highlighted by a generous $5,000 gift presented by VC President Tina Carpenter to UK Coach Mickie DeMoss and the women?s basketball program. In addition, the Victory Club also donated $2,000 to the expansion of Memorial Coliseum and the basketball practice facility.
?The contribution by the Victory Club will enable us to complete some projects that were unforeseen,? DeMoss said. ?The $2,000 donation to the practice facility is outstanding. It just shows how committed the Victory Club is to the success of our program. I cannot thank them enough for their support of this program.?
The Victory Club, which has grown to 250 members since its inception in 1995, was established to promote, encourage and maintain fan support through the cooperation and enjoyment of its members.
?We just wanted to express our joy and excitement of this season to Coach DeMoss, her staff and the team for their long hours of hard work,? Carpenter said. ?We also wanted to extend a special thank you for the efforts to bring the WNIT to Memorial Coliseum. It was a thrilling experience for everyone, especially the fans. The Victory Club looks forward to continuing to assist the women?s basketball program any way we can.?
