LEXINGTON, Ky. ?The University of Kentucky gymnasts posted a team score of 194.850 in the opening weekend, ranking them 10th in the nation of opening weekend scores. Southeastern powerhouse Georgia posted an identical score. Only league counterpart Auburn sits above the Wildcats and Gym Dogs in the current national team rankings.

The University of Utah posted the highest team score of the opening weekend with a 197.675.

Kentucky defeated Bowling Green State 194.850 ? 190.150 on Saturday in Memorial Coliseum. UK?s team score landed the Cats in the school record books for highest team score in a season opener. In addition to claiming the top opening night team score, the Cats also recorded the third-highest beam score in school history. The Cats were led by freshman Kristen O?Shields who posted an event-high 9.850 on the beam. Michelle Gales and Rachel Riley each posted 9.800 scores in the event.
