Jenny Pfeiffer, a sophomore guard on the Kentucky women?s basketball team, is out for approximately three to six weeks with mononucleosis according to UK head team physician James Jagger, M.D. She was diagnosed on Friday, Jan. 23, almost a year to date that she suffered a season-ending broken hand during practice on Jan. 21, 2003.

?This is tough for Jenny and tough for our team,? UK Coach Mickie DeMoss said. ?The most important thing is Jenny?s health and now we just have to focus on getting her better. As a team, we?ll have to come together and play even harder.?

Pfeiffer has started in all 17 games for the Wildcats and is UK?s third leading scorer with 11.8 points per game, including 10.5 points in conference play. She was averaging 29.7 minutes of action and was leading the team in free throw shooting percentage at 85.0 percent (51-60).
