LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – In a rain-soaked round two that saw two delays, University of Kentucky golfer John Holmes shot a 1-under par 71 to move into a tie for 15th place in the NCAA Central Region Tournament at the Pleasant Valley Country Club on Friday, May 17.

A freshman from Campbellsville, Ky., Holmes recorded three birdies on the back nine to overcome two bogies on the front to finish the second round before the second rain delay of the day forced golfers off the course to finish their rounds on Saturday. Holmes improved on his Thursday round of 72 to move up from 24th place.

Lee Williamson of Purdue overtook the lead from Oklahoma’s John Kidwell and Texas Christian’s Bret Guetz with a 5-under par 67 performance to improve to 7-under for the tournament.

Holmes will complete his bid for an NCAA Championship Tournament berth on Saturday, May 18.
