Wildcats Earn Notice From CollegeFootballNews.com: Coach Guy Morriss and punter Glenn Pakulak have received notice on the internet site CollegeFootballNews.com.

Pakulak was named honorable-mention All-America in the site’s post-season awards. He averaged 44.5 yards per punt, the second-best mark in school history which led the Southeastern Conference and ranked fifth nationally in punting. Additional honors for Pakulak this year include third-team All-America by Football News, first-team All-SEC by The Associated Press, and second-team All-SEC by league coaches.

The website also did a ranking of the 25 coaches who were in their first season as head coach at a new school. Despite UK’s final record of 2-9, the Wildcats’ competitiveness earned Morriss a ranking of No. 13 among the 25 first-year coaches. Morriss was rated higher than any of the first-year coaches who had a losing record this season. The writer for CollegeFootballNews.com was Richard Cirminiello, who wrote:

“#13 Guy Morriss, Kentucky … In the second half of the season, Morriss had the Wildcats playing very good football against the likes of LSU, Georgia, and Tennessee. Couple that with the development of Jared Lorenzen and it looks like the ex-offensive line coach might be building a nice little foundation in Lexington.”
