Kentucky senior forward Tayshaun Prince has been picked as the Pre-Season Southeastern Conference Player of the Year by Lindy’s Sports Annuals. Prince, who pulled his name from the NBA Draft in June, averaged 16.9 ppg and 6.5 rpg in 2001 and swept SEC Player of the Year honors last season.
The Compton, Calif., native also was named second-team All-America byThe Associated Press and the United States Basketball Writers Association and made the 10-member Wooden All-America team. He also became the 48th member of UK’s prestigious 1,000-point club in February.
