Amber Wilson has been accepted for admission to the University of Kentucky and will transfer from Michigan, UK coach Warren Lipka announced today. The West Chester, Ohio native will have three years of eligibility remaining and can play for the Wildcats beginning in the fall of 2001.

“We are excited to add a player with valuable experience to our roster,” Lipka said. “We look forward to her having an impact on the program.”At Michigan, she led the Wolverines to a second-round NCAA tournament appearance. The midfielder was second on the team in goals (9) and points (23) and tied for most game-winning goals with three last season. The true freshman started 20 games and played in all 23.

At Lakota West High School, Wilson was Division I Player of the Year in Ohio and first-team All-State. She also was named Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Offensive Player. Her high school team was state champion under her captainship, while her club team, Hammer FC, was state champion twice and state runner-up twice.

She joins eight newcomers on the 2001 Wildcat squad.
