Men's Golf

(Apr. 7, 2001) — The University of Kentucky men’s golf team jumped five spots to land in a tie for fifth-place at the 32nd Annual Marshall Invitational Golf Tournament on Saturday, April 7, at Huntington’s Guyan Golf & Country Club in Huntington, W.V.

Senior Ryan Wilson gave the Wildcats’ top performance of the springto finish in a tie for second place. Wilson’s three round total of 211 fell justshort of Ohio State’s Mike Austin who finished the tournament with a 208.Fellow senior Wes Furnish also came up big for the Cats with a 212 thatwas good enough to put him in a tie for sixth-place.

Other Cats in action include senior Pat Kelley with a score of 227,junior John Beckett with a 226 and sophomore Andy Dustman with a 229.

The Cats will now take the week to prepare for the SoutheasternConference Championships on April 20-22. The Championship will takeplace at Sea Island, Ga.
