(Mar. 14, 2001) — The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team scored another shutout victory to up its record to 9-4, when they blanked South Florida 6-0 on Wednesday, March 14.

The match, which was originally scheduled for March 13, and postponed due to storms in the Tampa area, resumed on Wednesday.The Cats did not lose a step as a result of the delay and took all six singles matches.

The Wildcats picked up the slack for junior Carolina Mayorga, who normally plays the No. 1 position and is out of the lineup with a minor injury. Lone senior Brooke Skeen, the nation’s 79th-ranked player, moved up in the lineup to upset 68th-ranked Tina Harrison, 7-5, 6-4, to lead UK to the victory. Junior Lauren Rookledge and sophomores Sarah Witten, Leigh Bradwell, Amy Trefethen and Jill Buckley all notched straight set wins in the Wildcat victory.

The Cats will now travel to Miami to battle Florida International on Thursday, March 14, at 2 p.m.
