LEXINGTON, Kty. – Three members of the University of Kentucky women’s soccer team were namedto the Great Lakes Region All-American team the National Soccer CoachesAssociation of America (NSCAA) announced Thursday.
Senior Allison Peppers and freshman Keri Boyce were named first-team GreatLakes Region All-American, while sophomore Annie Gage garnered second-teamhonors.
Peppers, a native of West Chester, Ohio, played sweeper for the Cats andwas a first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection after starting all21 games this season. During her four-year career, Peppers started 84 of 85games and is second in school history in games started. This season shetook three shots and tallied four assists, finishing her career with threegoals and 10 assists.
Boyce, a forward from Birdsboro, Pa., was named SEC Freshman of the Yearand earned second-team All-SEC honors this season. Boyce, who was named theNational Player of the Week by Soccer Times for the week of Oct. 25-31, wassecond on the team in goals scored with 13 and points with 30, both ofwhich are second most in a single season by a UK player. She set the schoolrecord for game-winning goals in a season with six.
Gage, a forward from Westerville, Ohio, was a first-team All-SEC selectionby the league’s coaches and was twice named the SEC Player of the Week.Gage, the Cats’ leading scorer this season, broke the UK single-season markfor goals (15), points (39), and shots (71). After redshirting in 1998 dueto a torn ACL, Gage returned to break the season record for consecutivegames scored with eight. During the eight game stretch, part of UK’s15-game winning streak, she tallied seven goals and three assists.
