LEXINGTON, Kty. – For the second consecutive week, a member of the UK women’s soccer teamhas been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week.

Forward Keri Boyce received the honor today by the SEC office. Last week,Annie Gage was honored as the league’s top player of the week.

Boyce scored the game-winning goal in both UK victories over the weekend in LasVegas, Nev. On Friday, the freshman scored the game’s only goal as the Catsdefeated host UNLV, 1-0. In the Cats’ 3-2 win over San Diego State, shebroke a 2-2 tie at the 76:42 mark, lifting UK to its seventh consecutivevictory tying the school record.

“Keri really stepped up for us this weekend with two big goals,” UK coachWarren Lipka said. “She has been a consistent presence in the lineup for usall season and is one of our best attacking forwards. She makes thingshappen when she’s on the field.”

The Birdsboro, Pa., native is tied for the team lead in goals scored thisseason with seven and is third on the squad in points with 16. Boyce’s fourgame-winning goals this season are one shy of the UK school record held byKarin Schneider’s five in 1995.

This is the first time in school history two Cats have been named the SECPlayer of the Week on back-to-back occasions. Former Cat Carrie Kuhnell isthe only other player for UK to capture the award (Oct. 1995).
