ATHENS, Ohio – The Kentucky Wildcats (12-17, 4-8 SEC) won their third baseball game in arow as they defeated host Ohio University, 12-6, in Athens, onWednesday, April 7.

Kentucky jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the top of thefirst inning. John Wilson belted his ninth home run in ten games to givethe Wildcats the lead, 3-0. UK manufactured another run in the inning asRobert Newton singled home Will Crumbaugh to give the Cats a 4-0 advantage.

Ohio scored one run in the second inning as Jason Arbinger doubled andthen scored on a Nathan Kent balk. The Bobcats tied the game in the third,scoring three runs on four hits and two wild pitches in the inning. Theytook the lead in the fourth, as Scott Brownlee walked to lead off theinning. He advanced to second on Brady Mangini’s single and to third on apassed ball. Matt Arbinger drove in the run on a ground out to theshortstop to give the Bobcats the lead, 6-4.

Ohio held a 6-5 lead entering the top of the eighth inning, but a lead-offhomer by Aaron McGlone, his eighth of the season and fourth in three games,tied the game at six-all and started a three-run inning. UK scored thego-ahead run on Vince Harrison’s triple, driving in Wilson who reached baseon his third hit-by-pitch.

Kentucky returns to conference action this weekend, traveling toFayetteville, Arkansas, to face the Razorbacks in a three-game series.
