The University of Kentucky welcomes Rita Adams of St. Louis, Mo., whosigned a national letter-of-intent to play basketball, during the Novembersigning period.

As a junior, Adams, a 5-8 point guard, averaged 18.2 points, 4.8 assistsand 4.8 rebounds per game for Lincoln High School before its closingearlier this year. While at Lincoln, Adams was named the Post-DispatchCo-Player of the Year after leading her team to the 1998 Illinois Class AAChampionship game. She will finish her prep career at East St. Louis HighSchool under Coach Charles McDonald.

Adams chose Kentucky over St. Louis, Texas A&M and Memphis.
