ST. SIMON’S ISLAND, Ga. – Alex Goff carded a 1-under 69 during the second round of the Southeastern Conference Championship, but the Kentucky men’s golf team fell to 12th overall and will need to move into the top eight on Friday to advance to match play.

Goff’s round highlighted the day for the Cats. As a team, UK shot 10-over par and sits 14 shots back of a top-eight finish. Vanderbilt continues to lead the field at 13-under. Florida is second at 9-under and LSU rounds out the top three with a 7-under scorecard.

The 14-team field is in the midst of a three-day, 54-hole stroke event to open the tournament. Match play begins on Saturday with the top eight finishes from stroke play. Two finalists will be determined for a head-to-head match-play showdown for the conference’s champion on Sunday.

UK will tee off from the 10th at 9:20 a.m. ET. The Wildcats will play alongside Arkansas and South Carolina.
