Jan Hoffelner Named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 4 Kentucky goalkeeper Jan Hoffelner was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, marking the second consecutive honor bestowed upon a Wildcat this season.
Hoffelner recorded his eighth and ninth shutouts of the season last week, cementing him at the top of the league in total shutouts, shutouts per game (.818) and goals against average (0.17). The 6-foot-3 graduate transfer from St. John’s recorded one save in Kentucky’s 1-0 double-overtime win over No. 25 West Virginia and a season-high-tying five saves in the Wildcats’ draw with South Carolina.
Hoffelner joins Kentucky defender Luis Grassow, who was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 19. The undefeated Wildcats return to action against Bellarmine on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
