Kentucky Baseball Hosts Alabama in Critical SEC Series
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Having reached the midway point of Southeastern Conference play the Kentucky baseball team returns home to host Alabama in a critical series as the schedule makes its turn for the finish line. Both teams stand with identical 7-8 records in league play entering the weekend.
Friday evening’s first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET, while Saturday is a 2 p.m. start and Sunday’s series finale is at 1 p.m. All three games will stream live on Watch ESPN/SEC Network Plus and are available on radio on 630-AM WLAP (Lexington) and 1080-AM WKJK (Louisville) or UKathletics.com.
Kentucky has spent three of the last four weekends on the road and need to re-discover its form, particularly on the mound, as it stares at a stretch of facing four Top 15 opponents over the final month after this weekend. The Wildcats’ offense has averaged 7.5 runs per outing over the last nine games but the pitching staff has yielded 37 runs during a three-game losing streak.
Alabama has won five of its last six in conference play, including a pair of walk-off victories over rival Auburn last weekend. This will be the Crimson Tide’s first time playing at Kentucky Proud Park and first trip to Lexington since the 2016 season.
