Wildcats Head to Florida Relays
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Kentucky track and field teams have the second meet of the outdoor season Friday and Saturday at the Florida Relays in Gainesville.
Friday’s action on Percy Beard Track at James G. Pressly Stadium begins with field events at 10 a.m. and track events at 4 p.m. On Saturday, action resumes in the field at 10 a.m. and on the track at noon.
In addition to Kentucky and host Florida, participating schools include Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi State, South Carolina, Southern California and Virginia Tech. Seven of the 13 women’s teams are ranked in the nation’s top 25, including No. 13 Kentucky. Five men’s squads are nationally ranked. The UK men have not yet hit the national rankings but are No. 5 in the Southeast Region.
The Wildcats are coming off an impressive opening weekend at the Weems Baskin meet at South Carolina. The UK teams combined for 14 victories, highlighted by a pair of outdoor school records – Dwight St. Hillaire’s 20.25 seconds in the 200-meter dash and Keaton Daniel’s clearance of 17’6.5″/5.35m in the pole vault.
