LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s soccer program approaches its fifth regular-season game on the fall schedule, hosting Tennessee on Sunday, October 18 at 5 p.m. ET at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex. The contest will be carried on ESPNU, with Cat Whitehall and Michael Watts on the call.
Attendance at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex is limited to a player guest and coach guest pass list only, but fans are encouraged to follow along through live scoring or tune into ESPNU.
The Wildcats have a 0-3-1 record after meeting four of the conference’s top teams to begin the season, including the league’s defending Eastern Division champions in Vanderbilt, then-No. 13 Arkansas, the defending Southeastern Conference champions in South Carolina and then-No. 8 Georgia.
Kentucky has produced different starting lineups in all four games this season, meanwhile navigating the boundaries of an undermanned roster during this novel time. However, that hasn’t stopped the Wildcats from posting some prominent stats against the nation’s top-ranked teams.
Jordyn Rhodes remains a top threat in the conference, after the sophomore tacked on her fourth goal of the season vs. then-No. 8 Georgia for a team-best 12 career goals. She is tied for first in the conference with four goals (1.0avg/g) through week four, meanwhile she is responsible for all of UK’s goals this fall, doing so on just seven shots on frame.
For the fourth straight week, redshirt senior goalkeeper Brooke Littman is the league’s leader in saves, recording 30 saves, four more saves than the field. Meanwhile, the Notre Dame transfer reset her game high twice this season, recording seven saves in her UK debut (September 20 at Vanderbilt) and making 11 saves in the very next game (September 27 vs. then-No. 13 Arkansas).
In just four matches this season, Littman’s 30 saves are just one off from her season-high 31 recorded in 2018.
The Volunteers are 2-2-0 this fall, coming off a 2-1 triumph over Missouri last weekend. Tennessee’s goalkeeper Lindsey Romig is the SEC Defensive Player of the Week, after recording a career-high tying eight saves to help UT defeat the Tigers. Tennessee leads the all-time series with Kentucky, 15-12-2.
