Anu, Rhodes Named Northwoods League Postseason All-Stars
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky baseball outfielders Oraj Anu and John Rhodes each were named 2020 Northwoods League Postseason All-Stars after standout performances in the hyper-competitive summer league.
Both players finished in the league’s top 20 in batting with Rhodes’ .378 batting average ranking fourth for players with at least 79 at-bats. Anu was nearly as hot at the plate, batting .330 as a switch-hitting middle-of-the-order presence.
Rhodes, who was the National Co-Freshman of the Year last spring, starred for the Fon du Lac Dock Spiders, leading the team in hitting, When his season ended so that he could return to UK’s campus for the fall he ranked in the Northwoods League’s top eight in average, runs, doubles, on-base percentage and OPS.
The Soddy Daisy, Tennessee native Counted seven doubles and a home run amongst his 31 hits, scored 25 runs and drove in 20. He walked 18 times, stole six bases in six attempts and posted a .491 on-base percentage, .494 slugging mark and .985 OPS. He had eight multi-hit games, including a 4-for-5 performance on July 11, had an eight-game hitting streak and reached base safely in 24 of 27 games played.
Anu was sensational for the Waterloo Bucks, scorching 32 hits in 97 at-bats with 20 runs scored, and 17 RBI. He had five doubles, three home runs, stole three bases and posted a .402 on-base percentage as part of an impressive .876 OPS. The junior from Orlando, Florida had nine multi-hit games, including four three-hit outings, and twice had back-to-back games with three hits. He also scored multiple runs six times and had five games with at least two runs batted in.
