WBB Ranks Top 20 in National Attendance for 11th Straight Year
LEXINGTON, Ky. – It was another magical year inside Memorial Coliseum and Rupp Arena for the University of Kentucky women’s basketball team as the Wildcats won 14 home games and finished with an average home attendance of 4,756 ranking 19th nationally. This marks the 11th straight year the Wildcats have finished in the top 20 in NCAA national average attendance.
Throughout 17 home games – two played inside historic Rupp Arena – Kentucky accumulated a total season attendance of 80,853, marking the 11th straight season the Wildcats have amassed 80,000 fans or more.
Kentucky has averaged 4,500 or more fans every year since 2009-10. The Wildcats have continuously pushed the school’s attendance numbers to new altitudes under head coach Matthew Mitchell. Kentucky was involved in two of the top-25 most attended games in the nation during the 2019-20 season, including 11,256 fans vs. Louisville at Rupp Arena which ranked 23rd nationally.
The Wildcats attracted large crowds not only in Lexington, but all across the country. A total of 135,443 fans attended Kentucky games, ranking the team 18th nationally.
The Southeastern Conference once again led the nation in attendance with an average of 4,183 fans per game and a total attendance of 924,471. The Big 12 was second in the rankings with a average attendance of 4,046
