27 Kentucky Swimmers & Divers Named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America has named 27 University of Kentucky swimmers and divers to the 2020 CSCAA Scholar All-America teams, it was announced on Thursday.
Following a season in which the men’s and women’s teams recorded their best point performances at the Southeastern Conference Championships in program history, while earning cumulative 3.715 and 3.874 grade-point averages, respectively, the latest academic honors include 18 swimmers and divers on the CSCAA All-America First Team, while nine swimmers and divers received honorable mention recognition.
The CSCAA named 1,479 swimmers and divers to a Scholar All-America team for the 2019-20 season. The first team recognizes students who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and were invited to compete at their respective national championship. Selections were drawn from 209 colleges and universities.
In addition to 209 teams receiving first-team selections, 97 programs placed one swimmer or diver selected on the All-America Honorable Mention roster. These student-athletes have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a “B” time standard or competed at an NCAA Regional or Zone Diving qualifier. In total, 282 teams placed at least one individual on the first or second teams.
For the second-straight year, the SEC led all conferences with 137 first-team selections, ten more than last season.
