No. 24 Kentucky to Host Oklahoma on International Day

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Fresh off its first appearance in the top 25 of the Oracle/ITA Division I Men’s Team Rankings since 2018, No. 24 Kentucky (6-1) is set to host Oklahoma (3-3) on Sunday at noon ET.

Weather permitting, Sunday has the potential to be the first outdoor competition of the season at Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Complex. The match will serve as International Day for Kentucky, whose 11-man roster and two-man coaching staff all hail from outside the United States. The seven flags of the corresponding native countries will be displayed around the courts in the free-to-the-public event.

The Wildcats enter Sunday with an unblemished 4-0 record at home, bookended by doubleheader wins on Jan. 16 and last Tuesday. Kentucky’s wins over Cleveland State, Toledo, IUPUI and Dayton have come by a combined 21-1 margin.

Oklahoma’s visit to Lexington marks the third of four straight bouts against opponents from the Southeastern Conference and one of six such matches overall.

In 2019-20, then-No. 21 Oklahoma edged out Kentucky 4-3 in a match the Cats never trailed until the final point at the USTA National Campus Collegiate Series in Orlando, Florida.
