Knight Receives Silver Medal at National Meet
MINNEAPOLIS – Standout University of Kentucky diver Kyndal Knight represented the blue and white at the USA Diving Winter Nationals in Minneapolis, Minnesota, receiving a silver medal before the nation’s best diving field. Knight, a native of Stanley, North Carolina, earned second place on the 1-meter springboard with a total score of 501.75 points at the national meet.
The sophomore made her presence known from the start of the competition, defeating a 20-person field in the 1m preliminaries with 260.60 points. Earning the top seed ahead of the 1m finals, she then recorded a score of 241.15 points to earn her overall score of 501.75 and take second place.
Knight also reached finals on the 3m springboard. During the 34-person preliminaries, she recorded 252.45 points to become one of 18 divers to advance to semifinals. There, she notched her highest score of the meet with 277.60 points to earn a spot in the 12-person finals. Knight posted 255.60 points at finals to finish in 11th place.

Unlike a collegiate meet where athletes present six dives, competitors entered a list of five dives per competition.

The Kentucky swimming and diving teams will compete against Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio, Jan. 3-4.
