After Howard missed a jumper with 37 seconds left in the game, Cal rebounded and called a timeout to set up a play to potentially tie the game. After another Cal timeout, the Bears went to CJ West, who converted a layup and was fouled with 9.7 seconds to play. But West missed the potential go-ahead free throw and Kentucky called a timeout to advance the ball to midcourt. Cal had a three-point heave at the buzzer that missed, ending the game.
