Hannah Richardson Named to 2019 SEC All-Freshman Team

by Tommy Scott

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Southeastern Conference announced today that freshman forward Hannah Richardson was named to the 2019 SEC All-Freshman Team.

“It is always special when a player is recognized by fellow coaches in our conference,” Kentucky head coach Ian Carry said. “This accolade is deserving as over 19 games Hannah has shown that she can turn a game on its head in a split-second. She’s never one to rest on her laurels. The spring will be crucial for her continued development so that she continues to be a constant threat in the SEC in 2020.”

Richardson, who hails from Bartlett, Illinois, scored eight goals and recorded one assist for Kentucky in its 2019 campaign. She was part of an attack for the Wildcats that scored 27 goals in 19 games, an improvement upon the 19 goals scored by the 2018 team.

Richardson’s eight goals were good for 10th overall and second among all freshmen in the SEC. As for how her season stacks up historically at UK, the forward scored the fifth-most goals in a season in school history.

The accomplishments for Richardson are only getting started, but the freshman has already received past call-ups to the U-20 United States Women’s National Team and played for Sockers FC in Chicago, Illinois, becoming the top goal scorer in the Midwest Conference.
