Kentucky Women’s Soccer Draws With Georgia on Thursday Night
ATHENS, Ga. — Kentucky (6-8-3, 1-6-1 SEC) tied Georgia (7-6-3, 3-3-2 SEC) by a score of 1-1 on Thursday night at Turner Soccer Complex. Freshman forward Jordyn Rhodes scored the lone goal for the Wildcats in the 52nd minute but that was cancelled out by a goal from the Bulldogs in the 62nd minute as both teams picked up a point in Southeastern Conference play.
Rhodes scored her sixth goal of the season on a great effort in pressuring the UGA goalkeeper, which caused the keeper to panic and attempt to play the ball away from Rhodes, but instead it deflected off of the foot of the freshman and found the back of the net.
Georgia responded ten minutes later with a goal when an attempted clearance by a UK defender was headed into the goal for an own goal which gave the Bulldogs an equalizer.
Kentucky is now on a two-game unbeaten run after a win against Missouri and this tie with Georgia as the Wildcats turn their attention to their final two games of the regular season against Vanderbilt and LSU.
