Countdown to First Serve: Meet Sharay Barnes

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sharay Barnes, a sophomore outside hitter from Chester, Pa., is the fourth player to be featured in our Countdown to First Serve series.
Barnes earned All-SEC Academic Team honors following her freshman season with the Blue and White. After redshirting in 2013, Barnes played in eight matches a season ago. In her career debut, she logged three kills and a block vs. Butler. In a win at Louisville, she posted a pair of kills in the dominating four-set win. During league play, she notched a block in appearances at LSU and Tennessee, while also adding her first career dig against the Tigers.

Kentucky’s Memorial Coliseum will play host to the NCAA Regionals Dec. 11-12. UK is one of four sites selected for the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight matchups with one team advancing to the Final Four in Omaha, Neb., from the Lexington Region. This marks the third time in five seasons Memorial Coliseum will host this premier volleyball event.
