2000-01 (junior): Advanced to the third round of the Region III Championships before dropping his quarterfinal matchup to Georgia’s Brandon Wagner, 6-3, 6-1…Grabbed back-to-back wins in the tournament over conference rivals Ross Greenstein and West Nott from Florida…Posted a 7-8 fall singles record?Started the year at the No. 2 position but suffered losses to DePaul and Eastern Tennessee?Scored big victory over highly ranked and regarded Amer Delic of Illinois?Had tough losses to No. 69 Kosta Zinchanka of South Alabama and No. 76 Erfan Dijahangiri of UCLA?Played key role in UK’s upset of N0. 25 Arkansas at the end of regular season with a defeat over Aleksey Bubis? Rebounded to have a good season at No. 5 singles where he went 6-5 with his best wins over Estevam Strecker of Auburn and Ole Miss’s Martin Selin in regular season action and then Paul Ciorascu in the SEC Tournament? 1999-00 (sophomore): Playing with fellow Swede Johan Hesoun, knocked off the No. 2 team of Meineke/Moodie (Boise State) in the quarterfinals and the No. 13 team of Andersson/Moser (VCU) in the finals to win the Citizens Bank Clay Court Championships… Posted a 6-6 fall singles record… His 10-4 fall record with Hesoun was capped off by a trip to the quarterfinals of the Region III Championships and an 8-4 loss to the No. 11 team in the nation, Carey/Parsons of Tennessee… Named to the 2000 GTE Academic All-Distric Second team with a 4.0 gpa…Posted a 22-7 record in the spring, including a team leading 8-3 record against conference opponents…Had an undefeated streak during the month of February which included a win over the 54th ranked Rob Cheyne from Fresno State, 6-3, 6-4…Also defeated Florida’s Olivier Levant two times…Played at the No. 1 and No. 2 position in doubles with partner Johan Hesoun, and finished the season ranked No. 42.

1998-99 (freshman): Advanced to the singles finals of the Louisville Invitational, where he fell to fellow Wildcat Tomas Smid…Reached the main draw at the National Clay Courts, before losing to No. 20 Brian Vohaly of Virginia… Finished the fall with a 6-3 record… Started the spring in the No. 6 spot and played the majority of the season at No. 4, posting an 8-6 mark in that spot… Clinched UK’s first ranked win of the year over No. 22 Notre Dame with a straight set defeat of Aaron Talarico… Clinched UK’s upset of No. 9 Alabama with a three set win over Matt Snider… Went 7-5 in SEC play including five consecutive victories in matches against LSU, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt… Clinched UK’s pressure-packed victory over No. 2 Illinois with a three-set win over Mike Kosta at No. 5 singles… Played superbly at the NCAA Regionals with a 2-0 record on wins over Juan Yannuzzi (ETSU) and Olof Akesson (South Carolina)… Lost close three-set match to Ramsey Smith in UK’s Sweet Sixteen loss to Duke after leading 6-4, 2-0 (15-40)… Finished the season with a 22-12 overall record.

Junior Career: Was a bronze medalist at the unofficial Under-14 World Championships…Was the Swedish Champion in 1994, Swedish School Champion in 1993, and the Swedish High School Champion from 1995-98…Won the Donald Duck Cup in 1994…One of the top-ranked Swedish players throughout his junior career, advancing as high as No. 2…Represented Sweden in the European Championships…Top wins include victories over U.S. Open Junior Champion Armand DiPasquale; win over Michael Tabura, the No. 2-ranked junior in the world; and a victory over Orange Bowl Champion Dario Saorlino.

Personal: Born on April 26, 1979… Parents are Berit and Goran Pousette… Chose UK “because of the great opportunities for my tennis career as well as my academics”… Favorite song is the Swedish National Anthem…Favorite food is “my mom’s pancakes”… Dream doubles partner is Stefan Edberg.
