Wildcats Earn GCAA President’s Recognition for Academics
LEXINGTON, Ky. – After 10 members of the team earned Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll honors, the Kentucky men’s golf team was recognized for its stellar performance in the classroom once again.
UK was one of 24 Division I teams to earn the President’s Special Recognition by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Friday. The highest honor is given to teams who have maintained a 3.5 grade-point average or better for the 2017-18 academic year.
The Wildcats joined South Carolina as the only two teams in the SEC to capture the President’s Special Recognition.
Players who were tabbed to the SEC Academic Honor Roll include: Jacob Cook, Lukas Euler, Allen Hamilton, Matt Liston, Chip McDaniel, Max Mehles, Fred Allen Meyer, Cooper Musselman, Zach Norris and Fadhli Soetarso. McDaniel, Musselman and Evan Cox graduated in May.
Kentucky enjoyed one of its most prolific seasons in program history in 2017-18. Kentucky advanced to its 10th appearance in the NCAA Championship after a dramatic come-from-behind finish in the NCAA Regional on the final day of play. UK won four regular-season tournaments, including a record-setting three in a row to begin the fall slate.
