Wildcats Wrap Up Season with Conclusion of NCAA Championships

MINNEAPOLIS – The Kentucky men’s swimming and diving team wrapped up its season Saturday evening with the final day of the 2018 NCAA Championships in Minneapolis.

The Wildcats had four representatives at the meet in senior Isaac Jones, junior Seb Masterton, sophomore Kevin Frebel and freshman Chase Lane.

“All four guys really performed well this week,” said Kentucky head coach Lars Jorgensen. “For three of the four guys we had here it was their first time at NCAAs. We didn’t get the results we wanted, but we return three of these guys next season, so we’re excited about the future and look forward to getting back to Lexington and to continue building for next year.”

Kentucky started off its action on Saturday with platform diving. Two Wildcats competed in the event, as junior Seb Masterton finished 34th with a score of 288.90 and freshman Chase Lane made his debut at the national meet with a 36th-place showing at 282.20.

Senior Isaac Jones swam his final race for the Blue and White, finishing 23rd in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 14:51.69.

With the conclusion of the men’s NCAA Championships, Kentucky swimming and diving’s 2017-18 season comes to a close.
