17 UKTF Wildcats Earn 2018 Indoor All-America Honors
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky was one of five teams with double-digit First-Team All-American honors for the indoor track and field season, while UK had a total of 17 first and second-team accolades, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Monday.
Additionally, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn and Sydney McLaughlin were the only two women in the country to earn First-Team All-America honors in three events.
Camacho-Quinn was First Team All-America in the 60-meter hurdles, 200m and 4x400m relay. McLaughlin was named to the first team in the 200m, 400m and 4x400m relay.
Athletes of USTFCCCA member institutions who finished in the top-eight of their respective individual events and relays at the 2018 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships last weekend took home First-Team All-American honors, while those who placed ninth through 16th were named Second-Team All-Americans. The remaining athletes were bestowed with Honorable Mention.
NCAA Heptathlon Champion earned First Team Indoor All-America honors for the second year in a row. Jacob Thomson, seventh in the 5k, earned the accolade on the first team for the first time indoors, and second time overall.
Olivia Gruver, bronze medalist in the pole vault for the second year in a row, picked up a First-Team accolade for the third time.
Marie-Josee Ebwea-Bile earned First-Team honors for the first time indoors, and second time overall.
