Clark, Lane Punch Tickets to NCAA Championships to Wrap Zones
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kentucky added two more to its NCAA Championships rosters on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio. Freshman Chase Lane qualified for the men on platform, while junior Courtney Clark made the women’s field in the same event.
“We had a good day,” said Kentucky diving coach Ted Hautau. “I was excited we had some great competition in there. Courtney got herself together, got in there and made NCAAs which was awesome. Chase did a fantastic job. (As a) freshman, it’s a long season and he did what he needed to do.”
Lane will make his NCAA debut on platform after finishing seventh overall with a cumulative score of 693.80.
Clark is making her second appearance at the national meet after qualifying in her rookie campaign. She finished 10th in the event Saturday with 480.30 points.
Junior Seb Masterton added to his NCAA list by placing fourth on platform with a score of 713.85. He will compete on all three disciplines for the Wildcats.
“It feels great,” said Masterton. “Great to know that I’ve made it on all three and it’s great to know that I have the team behind me this year.”
Next up the Wildcats will head to the NCAA Championships. The women’s meet will be held in Columbus, Ohio, from March 14-17, while the men’s meet will run from March 21-24 in Minneapolis.
