Former Wildcat Larry Warford Selected to NFL Pro Bowl
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Former University of Kentucky guard Larry Warford was one of a franchise-high seven players chosen from the New Orleans Saints to play in the prestigious Pro Bowl in Orlando, it was announced Sunday. The Pro Bowl is set for January 28 at 3 p.m. ET at the Camping World Stadium and will be televised on ESPN and ESPN Deportes, and simulcast on ABC.
Warford, who was a four-year letter winner and three-year starter at right guard for Kentucky from 2009-2012, earned All-Southeastern Conference honors all four years of his career. As a senior, Warford did not allow a sack all season. He was voted a third-team All-American by the Associated Press and was a second-team All-SEC selection by the AP and the league’s coaches.
In 2013, Warford was selected in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. He made an immediate impact at right guard, earning 2013 Pro Football Focus Offensive Rookie of the Year.
After four seasons in Detroit, Warford signed a four-year contract with the New Orleans Saints. This past season, he helped the Saints’ rushing offense finish second in the NFL in yards per carry at 4.66 and was a key cog in an offensive line that gave up just 30 sacks, second-fewest in the league.
Warford joins teammates Drew Brees, Mark Ingram, Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas, Cameron Jordan and Marshon Lattimore in the Pro Bowl.
Warford is the 15th Wildcat in Kentucky football history to earn a spot in the Pro Bowl, the first since Randall Cobb in 2014.
