Kentucky Volleyball Names Carly Cramer Assistant Coach
LEXINGTON, Ky. Carly Cramer has been hired as an assistant coach for the Kentucky volleyball program, head coach Craig Skinner announced on Friday. Cramer returns to Kentucky after spending the last three years as a graduate assistant.
“Carly has been an invaluable part of our staff over the last three years as a graduate assistant,” Skinner said. “We are thrilled now that she is entering the coaching side of the game. Her infectious personality, tireless work ethic and passion are traits that have impacted our program since joining us in 2015. These qualities along with her determination to be the best at what she does will translate well onto the court and the recruiting trail. Our players and staff are excited to get going and get this year off to a great start.”
Cramer, a former Purdue standout, will be coordinating recruiting, conducting on court training and will have a hand in all aspects of the program.
“I couldn’t be more excited to continue in a program with such a special group of people,” Cramer said. “I’ve gotten to know Kentucky volleyball throughout the last few years as a graduate assistant and I’m thrilled to officially be a part of the family. I appreciate the support from UK Athletics and most importantly I want to thank Mitch Barnhart, Katie Eiserman and Craig Skinner for having confidence in me. I am looking forward to continuing our rise to be the best in the country and I am proud to be a part of the Big Blue Nation.”
Cramer helped the 2017 Wildcats to a 29-4 record and a share of the SEC Championship. The Wildcats advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament and were ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation. Four Wildcats – Kaz Brown, Ashley Dusek, Leah Edmond and Madison Lilley – were named All-Americans. Edmond found herself on the first team, while Lilley made the second team.
In Cramer’s first full season at Kentucky, UK advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, taking down Colorado State in the first round. Cramer assisted in the development of three All-Americans and four AVCA All-Region award winners.
At Purdue, Cramer was an Honorable Mention AVCA All-Northeast Region selection as a senior and two-time Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection. She made the Academic All-Big Ten team four times. As a senior, she ranked fifth in the Big Ten in overall digs per set and fourth in conference play at 4.14.
Cramer is a 2013 graduate of Purdue and has a bachelor of science in food science with a minor in Spanish. She received her Master’s in Business Administration from Kentucky in December.
