Seidt Earns Second SEC Swimmer of the Week Honor
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After earning four individual victories against No. 13 Ohio State and Toledo this weekend, sophomore Asia Seidt was named Co-Southeastern Conference Female Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The honor marks the second of the season for Seidt, who was named SEC Female Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 21 after earning NCAA automatic qualifying times in both the 200-yard individual medley and 200 backstroke at the Ohio State Invitational.
It’s the fourth time overall the sophomore has been recognized by the league office, having been named Kentucky’s first ever SEC Freshman of the Year in 2017 as well as being named SEC Freshman of the Week on Jan. 24, 2017.
Over the weekend, Seidt showed her versatility by picking up victories in the 100 freestyle (49.24), 100 butterfly (53.15), 100 backstroke (53.34) and 200 IM (1:58.34). All four of her individual wins were NCAA ‘B’ standard times. The Louisville, Ky., native remained undefeated in the 100 backstroke this season.
Kentucky will return to competition Saturday, Jan. 20, traveling to Louisville for the annual Battle of the Bluegrass. The meet is set for a 1 p.m. ET start inside the Ralph Wright Natatorium.
