No. 8 Florida State Beats Kentucky on Sunday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 8 Florida State Seminoles used a first-half goal and three in the second to shutout the Kentucky women’s soccer team, 4-0 on Sunday afternoon in hot and humid Tallahassee.
 
The Noles inched ahead just before halftime, scoring with seven seconds remaining in the period to make it 1-0 in the 45th minute on Denya Castellanos’ fifth goal of the season.
 
Inside the opening minutes of the second half, Castellanos’ sixth goal of the season doubled the FSU advantage to make it 2-0.
 
Madisyn Pezzino scored her first and second goals of the season in the 86th and 88th minutes to make a 2-0 lead double to 4-0 late in the second half. The Seminoles outshot UK 27-1 with 14 of the 27 FSU shots on goal.
 
Kentucky will host Western Illinois on Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. ET in its next match. The game will be shown live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app. The UK men’s soccer team will follow on Friday night with a match at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Bell Soccer Complex.
