Hailey Nutter Wins SEC Freshman of the Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Softball’s Hailey Nutter, a freshman from Mont Belvieu, Texas, was named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman of the Week on Monday afternoon the league office announced.

Nutter threw a seven-inning no-hitter in her first-career start, facing only 21 batters in the game and logging 14 strikeouts, the most for a Kentucky pitcher in a single game since 2023. Nutter followed that up with a complete-game shutout of Minnesota, where she struck out eight batters and didn’t allow a hit until the fourth inning, as she began her collegiate career with 10.2 hitless and scoreless innings in the circle.

For the weekend, in Nutter’s three appearances, the Mont Belvieu, Texas native issued no walks and struck out 22 batters en route to a perfect 2-0 week in the circle to begin her collegiate career.

Kentucky will play the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and the ESPN app. Live stats will also be available on UKathletics.com.
