Ty Bryant Elected to SEC Football Leadership Council
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Defensive back Ty Bryant has been elected to represent Kentucky on the Southeastern Conference Football Leadership Council this season.
The Football Leadership Council is one of three components of the SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Council. The other two components are the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Leadership Councils.
Student-Athlete Leadership Councils for the sports of football and men’s and women’s basketball, along with the conference’s longstanding Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), provide student-athletes with additional opportunities to engage with campus leaders and conference office staff. The councils serve as a conduit of communication to the conference office on issues related to student-athlete experience, student-athlete wellness and playing rules.

A Lexington, Kentucky, native, Bryant serves on UK’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council and is regarded as one of the program’s key leaders heading into the 2026 season.
He was recently named a First Team Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators, boasting a 3.77 grade-point average with a major in communications. The soon-to-be-senior is a two-time SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll member after being named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll as a freshman. He also has been named to UK’s Dean’s List five times. In 2024, he was named to the Division I Academic All-District Team by CSC.
Bryant delivered an outstanding season on the field in 2025, pacing the team with 76 tackles and leading the league with four interceptions, highlighted by a two-pick performance against Ole Miss. He started all 12 games and added 2.0 tackles for loss and a pass breakup, further showcasing his all-around impact on the defense. He was named All-SEC Second Team for his efforts. He was named one of four game captains in three games vs. Toledo, South Carolina and at Vanderbilt.
The student-athletes joining Bryant on the SEC Football Leadership Council are: Will Sanders (Alabama),
Bradley Shaw (Arkansas), Champ Anthony (Auburn), Myles Graham (Florida), Chris Cole (Georgia), CJ Jimcoily (LSU), Brycen Sanders (Ole Miss), Kyle Ferrie (Mississippi State), Jamal Roberts (Missouri), Jacob Ulrich (Oklahoma), Brady Hunt (South Carolina), Jeremiah Telander (Tennessee), Trevor Goosby (Texas), Daymion Sanford (Texas A&M) and Jordan Matthews (Vanderbilt).
