Big Blue Preview: No. 15/15 Kentucky Women’s Basketball Plays at Belmont on Sunday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 15/15 University of Kentucky women’s basketball program, who is seventh in the latest NET rankings, will play Belmont in Nashville, Tennessee, at Curb Event Center on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 3 p.m. ET.

It will mark the program’s seventh game away from home through 12 games in 2025-26.

Darren Headrick will have the Kentucky-Belmont radio call for UK Sports Network, marking his ninth straight season as the voice of the Wildcats. His call will be carried on 630 AM WLAP in Lexington and on 790 AM WKRD in Louisville. It also will be carried on SiriusXM channel 390, and on the SiriusXM App.

Big Blue Nation also can watch the game on ESPN+, with Dr. Rich Tiner and Ellie Harmeyer Strutz on the call and Landen Secrest on the sideline.

The Wildcats enter the contest 10-1 on the season and 4-0 in true road games. The Cats have held three of their four nonconference, true road game opponents to 48 points or fewer. Prior to this season, the Cats have only accomplished that defensive scoring feat three times total in the last 16 seasons (from 2009-10 to 2024-25).

Kentucky’s 10-1 record is tied for the fourth-best record through 11 games in program history. Kentucky has been undefeated through 11 games three times, while it has been 10-1 13 times including 2025-26.

Four players are averaging double-digit scoring for the Blue and White, including Clara Strack (15.2), Tonie Morgan (12.4), Jordan Obi (12.2) and Teonni Key (11.5), while two others are averaging at least 9.0 points per game in Amelia Hassett and Asia Boone.

Strack, a 6-5 junior center, also is averaging double-digit rebounds (10.2). In fact, Strack is one of just eight players in the nation averaging at least 15.0 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game.

Meanwhile, Morgan, a senior point guard, is one of only two players in the nation averaging at least 12.0 points per game and 8.0 assists per game going into the weekend contest. Morgan also is second in the nation in assists per game (8.5).

She is recently coming off her second game of the season with at least 11 assists and 0 turnovers in a Kentucky win over Central Michigan. She is one of three Southeastern Conference players – since at least 2002-03 – to have at least 11 assists and 0 TOs in two games in a single season (also Calli Berna of Arkansas in 2013-14 and Whitney Boddie of Auburn in 2008-09) .

The Wildcats are ranked seventh in the nation in assists-turnover ratio and fifth in the nation in fewest turnovers committed (10.5).

Kentucky is also battling on defense, ranking high in the nation in numerous categories, including leading the country with 8.4 blocks per game, second in the country in scoring defense (49.0) and fifth in the country in field-goal percentage defense (31.0).

Kentucky leads Belmont, 6-1, in the all-time series, which began in 1976. Kentucky is on a six-game win streak with Belmont, taking its lone loss in the series debut in 1976.

The Wildcats and the Bruins have only ever met once on the Bruins’ home court. The Cats are 1-0 there, earning a 76-65 triumph in 1976.
