SSAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – Kentucky track and field freshman Jasmine Camacho-Quinn had a strong debut in a Puerto Rico uniform. She won the 100-meter hurdles in a meet-record 12.78 (-1.5 meters per second wind) at the North American, Central American, and Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC) Under-23 Championships on Saturday.

Camacho-Quinn’s wind-legal personal best 12.69 (+0.7) was recorded in a win at the Southeastern Conference Championships in May. She ran a wind-aided 12.54 (+3.8) to become the first freshman NCAA Champion in history last month. Camacho-Quinn’s 12.69 ranks No. 11 in the workd this season.
Camacho-Quinn will again represent Puerto Rico at the Olympic Games next month.

The NACAC U23 Championships will continue through Sunday.

Leah Nugent qualified for Rio in the 400m hurdles at Jamaica Trials.
Alumni Rondel Sorrillo, a UK volunteer assistant coach who trains in Lexington, and Mikel Thomas both qualified for the Olympics at the Trinidad and Tobago trials.
