DURHAM, N.C.- Lady Kat Jenny Dugan is tied for 13th place after the first round of NCAA East Regional Women’s Golf Championships Thursday after her one-over-par, 74, performance.
Dugan led the way for the Lady Kats, who sit tied with Southeastern Conference rival Ole Miss, for 14th place among the 19-team field. The SEC tandem each fired a team total of 312 to finish 19 strokes off the pace set by first-round leader Georgia.
The day-one performance by the Lady Kats mark the second lowest round for the UK squad this spring season. The Lady Kats, lowest round of the season occurred during the final day of the Bryan Cup Invitational on March 29 when the UK squad fired a round of 308.
In other first round action by the Lady Kats Heather Kraus fired a two-over-par, 75, tying her for 18th place. Katy Loy finished the day with a round of 80 to tie her for 71st while Julie Palmer,s round of 83 tied her for 88th. Jenny Throgmorton completed the Lady Kat,s first day with her round of 85 tying her for 95th.
The second round of the NCAA East Regional Women,s Golf Championships will continue Friday from the Duke Golf Club.
