The mission of CATS Learning Services is to help student-athletes build academic skills and independence through assignment completion, as well as to access the services and accommodations needed to navigate both the academic space and the wider world.

Every student-athlete should have access to the tools to reach their full potential, which includes academic accommodations, personalized skill-building and instruction, as well as holistic support for growth and development.

To accomplish this, Learning Services interventions are individually tailored to the needs of each student-athlete we serve. Additionally, CATS Learning Services supports all student-athletes in their academic pursuits through screening, evaluation, and staff training.

Services and Partnerships

To meet with a Learning Specialist, student-athletes must have a documented learning disability or neurodivergence, or be undergoing evaluation. The Learning Services team works closely with the Disability Resource Center, which coordinates accommodations for all students at UK.

To provide comprehensive support for student-athletes, the Learning Services team coordinates with a variety of UK Athletics and campus units, including Academic Counselors, Student-Athlete Experience, Sports Medicine and Performance, and mental health providers.
