ATHENS, Ga. – Junior Brooke Skeen, a member of the UK women?s tennisteam, continued her impressive play, winning her third round match at theGeorgia Invitational Saturday morning.
Skeen defeated UGA?s Zoe Mellis, 6-1, 7-5, in the third round to advance to thequarterfinals of the tournament on Sunday. Skeen, who defeated the tournament?sfifth seed in the second round Friday, will play second seed KavithaKrishnamurthy from Princeton.
Sophomore Lauren Rookledge fell to Mississippi State?s Amelie Detrieviere inthe third round, 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Leigh Bradwell was knocked out in the thirdround by Cynthia Tow from Boston College, 6-2, 6-4.
The top-seeded doubles team of Skeen and Bradwell defeated UGA?s Anne Nguyennand Krista Grey, 8-2, advancing to the semifinals on Sunday.Singles and doubles action will resume Sunday morning.
