No. 10 Kentucky Travels to No. 9 Georgia for Sunday Night Showdown

ATHENS, Ga. – No. 10 Kentucky (5-4, 2-3 SEC) begins the final month of the 2025 regular season on Sunday evening, traveling to Athens for a top ten battle against No. 9 Georgia (4-5, 2-3 SEC). The dual is slated to begin at 6 p.m. ET from Stegeman Coliseum and will be televised live on the SEC Network with Alex Perlman and Anastasia Webb on the call.

The Wildcats travel to the Classic City on the heels of four straight meets with a team score over 197 points. The Cats have broken that barrier in five meets this season, all coming in the last six meets. Kentucky is still looking to best its season best 197.300 set on January 17 against Alabama.

Ranked No. 10 heading into week nine, Kentucky currently holds an National Qualifying Score of 196.955. However, with the first road meet in three weeks on deck, the Cats finally have the opportunity to drop their season low score of 196.500 from the team’s season opener in Oklahoma City, making Sunday’s meet even more valuable for postseason seeding.

Vault continues to be the best event for the Wildcats, with Kentucky holding the No. 6 ranking for the second consecutive week with an NQS of 49.225. The floor rotation for the Cats has also shown considerable improvement in the past month, scoring over 49.400 in each of the last two meets.

Isabella Magnelli has continued her excellent start to her fifth year season, currently ranking in the top ten on both vault and beam. Slated at No. 4 on beam with an NQS of 9.925 and No. 7 on vault with an NQS of 9.900, Magnelli is just one of 13 NCAA gymnasts—and seven in the SEC—that are ranked in the top ten on multiple events. The Suffern, N.Y. native won vault and beam titles last weekend against No. 3 LSU, bringing her season total to seven and her career total to 21.

Hailey Davis held steady at No. 8 in the nation on floor, improving her NQS to 9.920. This season, Davis has scored 9.900 or higher on floor in every meet and has reached that mark in 18 or her last 19 meets, dating to January 2024

Creslyn Brose is coming off one of the best meets of her collegiate career, scoring 9.925 on beam and 9.950 on floor against LSU last Friday. The sophomore won her first floor title of the season and finished a career best second on beam. Furthermore, her two score total of 19.875 matched her career best set at the 2024 Kidney Care Women’s Gymnastics Championships last March.

Georgia enters Sunday’s contest as a top ten team for the first time since 2020, setting a season high score of 197.350 at Missouri last Friday. The GymDawgs have steadily grown throughout 2025, scoring over 197 in each of the last three meets and setting new season bests in every week except for one. Georgia ranks in the top ten on a pair of apparatus, slotting at No. 7 on bars and No. 8 on beam.

The Cats are 7-96-1 all-time against Georgia and have never won in Athens. The Cats first defeated Georgia at the 2018 SEC Championships and have since won six of the last seven meetings dating back to 2022, with the lone loss coming in Athens in 2023.

Following Sunday, the Cats will face a short turnaround and return to Historic Memorial Coliseum for their final home meet of the season, hosting Arkansas on Friday, March 7. First vault is set for 7 p.m. and the meet will be streamed live on SEC Network +. The meet will also serve as senior night for Kentucky’s six gymnasts in their final season of eligibility. Tickets are still available on Ticketmaster.
