LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Wildcats swimming and diving has chosen three individuals to represent the blue and white in Knoxville at the Last Chance Meet vs. Tennessee and Virginia Tech on Friday and Saturday. Fifth-year Chris Nagy, junior Maddy Hartley, and freshman Adomas Gatulis will all swim this weekend in hopes of improving their event times and qualifying for the NCAA Championships in March.

Coming off lots of success last week at the SEC Championship, all three individuals look to build off that same intensity. Nagy, a distance specialist, finished 11th in the 1650 free a week ago with the fourth best time in program history at 14:49.30. He has qualified for the NCAA Championship in that same event for the past two years, previously with Minnesota.

Last week, Hartley performed overall very well and reached the C Final of the 200 butterfly. In the final she won her heat, placing 17th overall with a time of 1:55.94. This weekend, she looks to improve her B-Standard time and bettering the sixth best time in school history that she notched in the C Final a week ago.

The freshman, Gatulis, looks to better his times as well after a huge breakout week in Athens. In the 200 breast he made the C Final, finishing second with a time of 52.32, making history with the sixth best time for a Wildcat. Gatulis also just missed the finals cut for the 200 IM with a time of 1:45.22.

The last chance for these three to qualify for the NCAA Championship will be at Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center in Knoxville on Friday and Saturday. The results of the meet can be found on the MeetMobile app.
