Carson Fall’s Relief Outing Clinches 7-4 Win over Kennesaw State
KENNESAW, Ga. – Freshman pitcher Carson Fall pitched 4.2 innings of shutout softball Sunday afternoon, allowing just one hit and striking out five as the No. 24 Kentucky Softball team beat Kennesaw State 7-4 to close out the 2025 I-75 Challenge with a win.
The Wildcats scored in four of the first five innings of the game as each time Kennesaw State responded with runs in the first, second and third innings, Kentucky answered back to re-take the lead. Kentucky had six extra-base hits in the game with Hallie Mitchell, Peyton Plotts, Karissa Hamilton, Emory Donaldson and Delani Sullivan each all cranking out extra-base hits.
With the win, Kentucky closes the weekend with a 4-1 record in the tournament and now sits 10-5 overall on the season through the opening three weekends of play. The final weekend of non-conference action is next weekend as Kentucky will compete in the Hilltopper Invitational in Bowling Green, Kentucky hosted by WKU beginning Friday and running through Sunday.
Peyton Plotts went 3-for-4 in the game Sunday with three RBI and a double. Plotts plated the opening two runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning and sawed off an Rbi single up the middle in the Kentucky fourth inning. Kentucky also got a multi-hit game out of McKenzie Bump, Emory Donaldson and Delani Sullivan, who had a double and a home run, her second of the season and career.
Kentucky logged 13 hits in the game and committed just one error, its only charged error on the entire weekend in five games. Each of the top eight players in the Kentucky batting order had at least one hit in Sunday’s game with Sullivan joining Plotts in a multi-RBI effort.
Carson Fall earned her third win of the season in the game, to improve to 3-1 on the year. Alexia Lacatena started the game and went the first 2.1 innings with a strikeout.

Emory Donaldson’s RBI in the top of the third inning off a double over the left fielder’s head to score Cassie Reasner with two outs to give Kentucky a 4-2 lead at the time.

Peyton Plotts was the key player, going 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of singles with three runs batted in.
